Batutsi

Tutsi ou Batutsi
ethnie du Burundi et du Rwanda. Ils sont minoritaires dans les deux pays (15 % de la population), où ils parlent les mêmes langues (bantoues) que les Hutu: le kirundi et le kinyarwanda. En outre, une petite communauté vit dans l'est de la rép. dém. du Congo. à l'automne 1996, son armée attaqua les camps de réfugiés rwandais. De là, toute une partie de la rép. dém. du Congo (alors nommée Zaïre) connut des troubles. La faiblesse de l'armée zaïroise apparut et les forces de Laurent-Désiré Kabila se mirent en branle dans cette région. V. Hutu.
